DATA INTELLIGENCE

Ranking Methodology & Data Availability

Understanding how we track, verify, and rank YouTube channels across different regions and categories.

This ranking is based on historical data and is updated on a scheduled basis to ensure accuracy.

We are aggregating historical data to ensuring accuracy before releasing the public list. Please check back for the weekly data update.

How We Calculate Ranks

YTface uses direct integration with the YouTube Data API to fetch real-time statistics. However, raw numbers don't tell the whole story. We apply specific filters to exclude inactive channels, topic channels (generated by YouTube), and verify primary country of origin.

Regional Data (India, UK, etc.)

For country-specific rankings, we cross-reference the channel's declared location with content language and audience demographics. This prevents global channels from cluttering local leaderboards.

Average vs. Monthly Views

Average Views are calculated based on the last 30 videos uploaded, removing Shorts to give a true representation of long-form content performance.
Monthly Views represent the total channel viewership gained in the last 30 days, which is a key indicator of current "heat" or virality.

Update Frequency

  • Trending Videos: Updated Daily (Midnight UTC)
  • Subscriber Ranks: Updated Weekly (Mondays)

Data Integrity & Quality Controls

To maintain ranking accuracy, we apply several quality controls before publishing each data cycle:

  • Bot/Spam Filtering: Channels exhibiting sudden, unnatural subscriber spikes (often from sub-for-sub or purchased subscribers) are flagged and excluded from the growth ranking until verified.
  • Duplicate Exclusion: Multi-language versions of the same brand channel (e.g., "MrBeast" and "MrBeast en español") are not counted as separate entries — only the primary channel is ranked.
  • Minimum Upload Requirement: Channels must have uploaded at least one video within the last 90 days to appear in any ranking. This ensures only genuinely active creators are represented.
  • API Rate Compliance: All data fetches comply with YouTube Data API v3 quota limits. We use Cloudflare Workers with scheduled CRON triggers to distribute API calls efficiently.

Transparency & Limitations

While we strive for the most accurate rankings possible, there are inherent limitations. YouTube's subscriber counts are rounded for channels above 1,000 subscribers (e.g., "1.5M" instead of "1,523,456"). This means small-margin rank differences between closely-ranked channels may not reflect exact ordering. Additionally, YouTube occasionally adjusts subscriber counts during audit sweeps, which can cause temporary rank shifts unrelated to organic growth.

If you believe a channel has been incorrectly ranked or excluded, please contact us and we will review the data manually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does YTface get its data?

All data is sourced directly from the YouTube Data API v3. We do not scrape websites or use unofficial data sources.

Why is my channel not appearing in the rankings?

Channels must be active (at least one upload in 90 days), not be an auto-generated topic channel, and meet minimum subscriber thresholds. Rankings are limited to the top 100 per category.

How do you determine a channel's country?

We cross-reference the channel's self-declared location with content language and primary audience demographics to assign a country.
